"Real KARATE" .. "IS NOT", a young persons pursuit, ....
Karate is NOT a game. (No matter what else you might have heard or others might believe )
Please remember that allowing children in Karate is TRULY MODERN phenomenon ("not a Traditional one"),
Karate is pragmatic at its purest, it is NOT a sport, it is not a game, its function was / is to provide civilian protection, we in Kissaki Kai train only in its primary historical function and in it's true purpose. Karate needs to be of an a applied standard and a practical nature, it's not a points scoring exercise /or a game for us.
CLUB RURAL LOCATION;
A LITTLE BIT MORE .....

MEMBERSHIP OF KISSAKI KAI .
Falcarragh Karate club have affiliated to Kissaki Kai, I realised that when I started karate that my first instructors & others were not interested in anything other than having a winning competition team. Being thrown into competitions as a white belt (mostly UNOFFICIALLY of course) practically every single weekend, attending events where the referee was really a random afterthought {& most didn't really know all the rules that's the way it was}some wore jeans and had just came along to watch, ( as a spectator roped in, incredible but true).
I never saw a proper matted tatami (Fighting area) in my first ten years. Having read karate books as a youngster (years before finding my first karate class) describing useful karate techniques such as; single knuckle punches, finger stabs, palm heel, edge of hand strikes, knees, edge of foot strikes to leg, strikes to vunerable targets etc. in defense,
but being told (by my karate instructors) as a white belt, WE don't practice these as they're are '"no good"' for "competition", because they '"don't score"' (in competition) and are not allowed (in competition)ï(so i.e they're useless ) and they're in the Kata anyway, just for the gradings, when you move on through the belts and anyway we don't like Kata (and for competitions) too time consuming & complicated, why bother with all that
WHY Did I ASK ? (because I was interested, and very Interested and curious that many most black belt Instructors couldn't answer logical questions).
Persevering I realised that what I was learning and practicing was only a very small watered down part of Karate. I was given a copy of the first seminar tape of Vince Morris and being amazed, I read his column in Trad karate Magazines & bought all the tapes & books etc as they were produced. Noting along the way with great interest the growth of others doing Kata Bunkai (practical karate) seminars etc. bought their books & videotapes VHS DVDs as well & noticing a "shadowing" of Kissaki Kai techniques without the five wazas, the Kyusho, rules of combat etc.
It was patently obvious, that Vince Morris had researched what works practically & what does not work and the historical reasoning behind techniques. I have come to believe, over the years that Kissaki Kai has the concepts that explain the Kata Bunkai, the concepts that are the foundation of the practical Karate applications taught.
We are convinced all Karate students must have the ability, attitude and skills to protect themselves quickly and efficiently, when there are no referees around, with simple workable methods that even-up any greater weight, size reach and weapon disadvantages.
Really believing that, 80% OF THOSE WHO CHOOSE "KARATE" as beginners, choose it for self defence and then most, end up being directed towards competitive sports tournament pointscoring techniques.
As a student and instructor, I would not be true to my own beliefs or our students, not to join Kissaki kai.
FAR, FAR, TOO MANY PEOPLE, today believe that KARATE is only for Children.
It was never meant for Children, far far from it.. You may or have an awareness or witnessed something watered down / adapted for Children. But that is not functional Karate ( its strictly adapted playtime for children Karate), we like functional Karate we like Kissaki Kai.
To all the variety of excellent Instructors that genuinely shared information, willingly or unknowingly.
Thank You.
JUST TO LET YOU KNOW - KARATE IS FOR ADULTS
If you have trained for many years and are not the fastest competition puncher in your club anymore,

JUST TO LET YOU KNOW - KARATE IS FOR ADULTS
Kissaki Kai Karate Do
If you have trained for many years and are not the fastest competition puncher in your club anymore,
Kissaki-Kai can offer you meaningful applications and techniques that do not rely on youthful speed and strength alone.
We uphold the values and principles of the original purpose of the martial arts;
to empower members with the ability to defend themselves, their families and the weak, and help the development of steadfastness, courage and integrity.
What Kissaki Kai is a true, field-tested defensive art for Law enforcement professionals as well as the entire family.
Real karate is self-defence (Sport Karate is playtime)
What do we mean by that?
It's simple: Modern karate has become a sport, using techniques which win at competitions, where rules and regulations stop the use of real, effective techniques.
However, when you are being attacked in the street there will be no referee present, who shouts Yame!. 'STOP', Hold, breakaway or a judge/timekeeper to ring a bell – to whistle - or beat a gong.
'Real techniques' and 'real karate' therefore have to fully incorporate the reality aspects of the martial art that karate was once intended to be.
Karate gives you an excellent all-round workout for all muscle groups, increases your flexibility, stamina and on top of all that you learn a system
that may one day save your life or that of a member of your family!
Kissaki-Kai Karate training includes;
Atemi Waza; Vital point Strikes
Shime Waza; Choke/strangle Techniques
Kensetsu Waza; Joint Locking
Ne-Waza; - Groundwork, grappling
Nage-Waza; - Throwing techniques
Logically intertwined and seamlessly.
