......... The Falcarragh Karate Club are delighted with the successful Grading to Shodan (1st Dan) of Liz O' Donnell, in the system of Kissaki Kai Karate. The grading examination took place at the Dojo of Sensei Don Came (7th Dan Kissaki Kai) in the picturesque town of Eastbourne,in East Sussex, England, on the 7th July 2023. Liz O' Donnell has been a member of Kissaki Kai Ireland and the Falcarragh Karate club since 2014 and has trained diligently, since the first day in the Dojo, having previously had experience in other Martial arts, (Shotokan in Scotland & Kickboxing in Ireland ) chose Kissaki Kai karate. Liz has been a dedicated member of The Falcarragh karate club since 2014, the club train exclusively in the self -protection system called Kissaki Kai Karate, which is based on the principle of being prepared for anything that could happen. It’s a practical applied martial art (not for sporting purposes). It’s through focused training that Glasgow native Liz O'Donnell, has over several years shown a strong aptitude for Kissaki Kai in applied practical techniques, principles, and realistic form. Falcarragh Karate Club is a niche Club, that train in a renowned and world recognised system. Sensei Vince Morris 9th Dan is the founder of Kissaki Kai Karate, and he teaches realistic effective, karate including kata Bunkai (breaking down applications of common kata) and how to apply these in a realistic way. Sensei Morris has taught all over the world, including teaching police officers, military groups, and government agencies, and in the process, he has had to pressure test all his training methods to use in practical terms to actually save lives. This means that all applications really do work. The research that Sensei Vince Morris has done on Bunkai from the kata, has spawned many imitators, and followers over the years. Liz says “as you can imagine we have had great seminars in the past with Sensei Vince Morris, and with Sensei Don Came, often with eager (and at first sometimes apprehensive) people in attendance, we usually have many enthusiastic partners to work with and often it’s great to see people with different training/martial arts backgrounds training together with enthusiasm”. Don Came, who has trained with Liz many times over the last ten years is full of praise for Liz " a dynamic and enthusiastic student of Kissaki Kai karate, who has spent time developing her skills and is an valuable asset to our organisation". An opinion echoed by many who have experienced training with Liz over the years. Sensei Vince Morris the founder of Kissaki Kai, doesn't make it over to Ireland very often, 2019 was his last seminar here in at Magheraroarty, Co. Donegal, with attendance from Guy Janssens 7th Dan from Belgium, according to Liz “ it’s so great that we can train with the world’s leading authorities on applied martial arts and we have had some great feedback on our own seminars and courses and our aim is that everyone gains something "extra" to add to their martial arts repertoire”. The Falcarragh karate club is unique as it operates as a non-profit making organisation solely for the benefit of all its members. We do pressure test, all potential attacks as way of learning, controlled & random, including flow drills as they are essential, to help with learning with practical hands on experience using visualization and direct techniques on pads and bags. we train real defenses against attacks, including awareness, positioning, pre contact clues, verbal awareness and Distraction from the first lesson/ session. Falcarragh Karate club is passionate about Karate and the benefits that it offers. Enjoying karate for over 44 years, the Club now attracts people, who are interested in practical applied Karate, that has traditional values but is using modern teaching techniques. The club teaches Kissaki Kai Karate a crucial self defense self-protection system. Some of the many side benefits of Karate include, helping with concentration and co-ordination improving strength and physical capabilities. According to Liz , “We are a friendly and inclusive club with a great spirit, and our sole purpose is to teach really good quality Kissaki Kai Karate. Karate for life, that everyone can enjoy.”
